Vinyl Record Policy

Record Selection Policy

Please choose your records carefully. We are unable to offer cancellations, exchanges or refunds for change of mind once an order has been placed.

Damaged or Defective Records

If your order arrives with clear damage or a significant defect, please contact us as soon as you receive it. While most items arrive in perfect condition, issues in transit or in the pressing process occasionally occur. We will work with you to make sure you receive a product that meets the standard you would expect from a dedicated music retailer.

When you receive your parcel, please check your items and notify us immediately if anything is seriously damaged, defective or incorrect. This allows us to assess the issue quickly and provide the appropriate solution.

Returns, Refunds and Quality Claims

All requests for returns or concerns about quality should be submitted within 14 days of receiving your delivery.

TripleJ Store follows the ACCC consumer guarantees. If a vinyl record arrives with a serious defect or is not fit for purpose, you are entitled to a remedy. Once we verify the issue, we will arrange a replacement or provide a refund. If the item was the only product in your order, we will also refund the delivery cost.

In many cases we may request photos or a video demonstrating the issue. Sometimes this is enough to resolve a claim without requiring the item to be returned. If a return is needed, we will provide a reply paid label for inspection.

Please note that orders cannot be cancelled or refunded simply because you have changed your mind or chosen the wrong item.

Playback Issues and Turntable Compatibility

A small amount of warp is common in vinyl and is usually managed by a properly adjusted tonearm. Playback problems such as skipping, distortion or mistracking are often caused by the turntable rather than the record itself, especially when using compact or entry level models.

TripleJ Store does not accept returns for playback issues that occur on turntables with non adjustable tonearms, basic cartridges, or built in speakers. Many of these players lack a counterweight, anti skate adjustment or proper platter support, which can lead to skipping, uneven rotation and potential record wear even when the vinyl itself is in perfect condition.

Lower cost players may also apply excessive pressure on the stylus or fail to keep the record sitting flat, which can affect performance across all records.

The following brands and models are commonly known to experience tracking issues due to their design or limited adjustability. This list is not exhaustive.

  • 1byone
  • Audio Technica AT LP60X
  • Audiosonic
  • Brauhn
  • Bush
  • Crosley

If you are experiencing playback issues, we strongly recommend checking the setup of your turntable, testing other records and reviewing the manufacturer’s instructions before lodging a claim.

Creased Sleeves, Covers and Spindle Label Wear

We package all orders carefully, but minor sleeve creases or light corner wear may occur during shipping. These cosmetic imperfections do not affect playback. Under ACCC consumer guidelines, minor cosmetic damage on packaging or labels does not qualify for a refund or replacement.

If your item arrives with more significant damage, please send clear photos or videos to support your claim so we can review the situation and assist you appropriately.
